WriteandShow Forum Help - Avatars

Avatars -  a picture which identifes you as a poster.

You can have a personalized avatar (like your picture or favorite image) or you can have one that is automatically generated.

Having your own custom Avatar

1. All you need to do is register your email address at Gravatar.com ( it is free). Then you upload your personal avatar image at the Gravatar site.

2. Then anytime you put that email address in your post, your own custom image will show as your personalized avatar, like this:   (yours will be created from the picture you upload).

3. Your email address does not show in posts. Your email address is private on our comment forum (and at Gravatar.com).

4. More about Gravatar - A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums.  It doesn't just appear on our site, but anywhere (like on WordPress blogs) where they use the Gravatar mechanism.

5.  Getting a gravatar - Signing up for a gravatar.com account is FREE, and all that's required is your email address. Once you've signed up you can upload your avatar image and soon after you'll start seeing it on gravatar enabled sites!

Having an avatar generated for you.

1. If you don't want to register your email address at Gravatar.com and upload your own picture, you can still get an autogenerated avatar when you use any email address.

2. Just enter any email address into the email blank when making a post.

3.  Your email does not show in posts. It is private on our comment forum.  Click the Privacy help button to learn more about why entering an email address has several uses on our comment forum.

3. Then an image id generated from the letters in email address, so each is unique, although quite boring).  The autogenerated avatar looks like something this:   (each is different).
